In 2002, Gary Gray was diagnosed with prostrate cancer, which has gone to the bone.  He is currently undergoing Chemotherapy

On August 13, 2005, Gary Gray was honored with the Golden Boot Award, a type of Oscar for western stars.  The statue was presented by contemporary child star Haley Joel Osment.  See two photos below--Gary Gray, left, and Haley Joel Osment at right, holding the Golden Boot
